Sep 21 to Sep 25

DisOrientation is a radically different, politically progressive, series of events that will offer all students access and insight into the exciting political and social justice spheres that exist at York University and in our city. By bringing together a wide range of campus and community groups and services, we are trying to draw the links between the many different kinds of political, environmental and social justice based activism that exists on campus and in our communities.

Events will be happening all week, between Monday, Sept. 21st and Friday, Sept 24th.

Aug 17 to Aug 31

OPIRG welcomes the contributions that individuals from marginalized communities bring to our organization, and invites aboriginal people, people of colour, poor and working class people and those on social assistance, women, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, queer-oriented people; transgender, transsexual, intersex and two-spirit people; single parents, members of ethnic minorities, immigrants, people from non-academic backgrounds and people with disabilities to apply. We encourage applicants to describe the contributions and experiences they would bring to the OPIRG organization in their cover letter. All applicants are asked for a brief statement on their views of power and oppression.

The newly elected Board of Directors and OPIRG staff have arranged a meeting for OPIRG’s working groups, campus service groups, students, and community members. The purpose of this meeting is for strategic planning, visioning, and discussion of events and campaigns to focus on during the 2015-2016 school year, while also acting as a space to discuss the general activity of OPIRG over the past year.
